Introduction to Technology & Programming
Level 1 of the JCC ladder. Twelve sessions over four weeks for someone who has never written a line of code: how computers and the web really work, then you build your own web page with HTML & CSS and publish it to a live address you can open on your own phone.
About this Course
Technology is everywhere, and most people use it every day without ever seeing how it works. Four weeks is enough to change that.
You start with the machine in front of you: what the parts do, how files and folders work, and what really happens between typing an address and a page appearing. Then you build something. Over six sessions you write your own web page with HTML & CSS, publish it to a live address, and open it on your own phone. It is yours, it is on the internet, and you can show it to anyone. In the last of those sessions you add a few lines of JavaScript so the page does something when you click it.
The last stretch is the part nobody teaches you. Keeping your accounts safe with strong passwords and 2FA, spotting a phishing message before it costs you, using tools like ChatGPT for real work, and knowing how to tell when a confident answer is simply wrong. Then the roles on a tech team, the JCC ladder, and which level comes next for you.
No experience is assumed and nothing is taken for granted. If you are still deciding whether this world is for you, this is the four weeks that decides it.

Hands-On Projects
What You Will Build

A page you write yourself with HTML & CSS, published to a live address, with a few lines of JavaScript so it responds when you click it
